Stenden University Qatar (SUQ) was represented at the 11th Bahrain Universities Model United Nations (BUMUN) held in Manama from 26-27 November, amongst 29 other universities. Magnificently a delegate from Stenden University Qatar was awarded the Diplomacy Award for Best Delegate.

The participating universities were from The Kingdom of Bahrain, The State of Kuwait, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, The United Arab Emirates, The State of Palestine, The Arab Republic of Egypt, The Republic of Lebanon, The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, The Republic of Iraq and The State of Libya.

Students from Stenden University Qatar (SUQ) debated topics such as cyber warfare, violence against women, nuclear energy/crisis and climate change. Respect and cooperation were the fundamentals of the debate and the delegates were acquainted with diplomacy and international issues.

The 11th Bahrain annual event was held at The Diplomat Radisson Blu hotel under the patronage of the Bahraini Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairperson Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The opening event commenced with a speech from the Bahraini’s Assistant Foreign Minister, Abdullah Al Dossari who emphasized on encouraging the delegates to make the world a better place.

Members of Stenden University Qatar’s team were: Vignesh Venkataraman, Shivi Mishra, Mohammed-Soheil Zantout, Hazel Tellis and Coach Darine Chaaya. The delegates represented Kuwait and Canada at the General Assembly Committee, Canada at The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and Kuwait for The International Atomic and energy Agency (IAEA).

Stenden University Qatar team was presented with a participation award while Vignesh Venkataraman received the Diplomacy Award for Best Delegate for his participation in The General Assembly.
